Position Title: Service Manager
Reports To: Store Manager & Assistant Store Manager

Job Summary

The Service Manager under the direction of the Store Manager is primarily responsible for the safe, efficient and profitable operation of the Service Department. They are responsible for maintaining the highest level of customer satisfaction which includes both retail and internal customers. He or she will also be responsible for resolving customer problems to a satisfactory conclusion.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Develops and follows an annual service budget, based on labor hours, to provide realistic, attainable and measurable service profit goals compatible with overall Dealership financial and operational objectives. Labor sales are to be monitored on a monthly basis to assure achievement of budgeted sales and profit goals.

• Develops and implements a 12- twelve month Service Marketing Plan. This plan should be developed to generate the labor sales required to achieve the service budget. This should be in conjunction with Lakeland’s company wide advertising plan.

• Provide the leadership role regarding the recruitment, screening and hiring of service personnel.

• Reviews all management reports necessary to audit the performance of departmental and individual employees, on a monthly basis. ( ie – open work orders report, overtime report, technician performance report, etc )

• Holds department meetings as necessary to disseminate information and develop plans for improvements.

• Coordinates scheduling to insure adequate coverage while minimizing overtime.

• Schedules all pick-up and deliveries of equipment and coordinates trucking between stores.

• Open work orders; schedule and assign jobs and work areas to technicians according to their skills and knowledge. Uses a scheduling system to eliminate lost time between jobs.

• Review work orders for completeness and accuracy prior to billing.

• Bills out work orders and collects revenue before equipment is delivered back to the customer.

• Ensures that all required manufactured Warranty and PIPs are completed on a timely basis.

• Meet with Sales and Parts Managers monthly to evaluate inter-departmental concerns, plans, and performance.

• Maintains an esprit de corps among the Service Departments employees and builds a strong working relationship with all other departments.

• Periodically visits primary customers to monitor customer relations, needs, problems, and satisfaction with Dealership-performed repairs.

• Provide an upbeat, concerned and urgent sense to customer’s needs and requirements. Try to make each customer feel as if he or she has had a positive buying experience at Lakeland. Greet and acknowledge each customer promptly. Always remember to thank them for their business. Coach all Service Department employees to do the same.

• Puts emphasis on quick telephone response and proper telephone etiquette.

• Assists the Store Manager in reviewing the department employees at least annually.

• Coordinate Dealership training programs and Service -related customer clinics.

• Ensures that necessary Service Department special tools and service equipment are available and maintained in good order.

• Ensures a safe, clean organized Service Department both inside and outside the facility.

• Makes recommendations regarding the purchase of Service vehicles, and maintains the fleet in a manner to provide a profitable operation.

• Perform other duties or functions as so directed by management in line with the objectives of the dealership.

• Assures compliance with all Company requirements as put forth in the Procedure Manual and the Employee Handbook.
