Description

The Safety and Training Leader needs to fulfill many demands of a dedicated account and be a hands-on steward of safety. This leader would perform multiple tasks from analyzing trends, data reporting, coaching drivers through performance improvement, and conducting training with drivers. This will require that they would be both a leader and driver trainer certified. They will report directly to the Dedicated Safety and Training Manager and must be certified to conduct all driver training modules.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.             The Safety and Training Leader will review each accident and injury on the account and do an accident or injury analysis with a recommended action plan. They would review this plan with the Driver Business Leader (DBL) to ensure agreement and get any additional insight. They would then execute on the plan, conduct the business partnership with the DBL and driver and conduct the training.

2.             The Safety and Training Leader will do weekly reporting of account trends and meet with the account leadership group to review them, and provide suggested actions for improvement and recognition. These findings would also be shared on the General Manager’s call for questions and feedback.

3.             This individual will be responsible for working directly with the curriculum development team to design advanced training modules, specifically designed to prepare drivers mentally and physically for the rigors of the account.

4.             To better understand the work and driver performance this associate is required to execute ride along trips with drivers.

5.             This individual will conduct account audits of training documentation, compliance (logging, V&Rs, etc.), and driver behavior through unannounced observations of driving, working on equipment, unloading and equipment upkeep. Defects would be corrected in file maintenance, system false positive log defects would be corrected through regulatory contacts, and driver action plans developed to address poor behavior and recognized for good behaviors.

6.             This individual will interact with the DBL and customer to investigate and provide solutions for difficult store locations and loading problems. They will maintain a database of load quality through the development of continuous improvement methods based on store and driver feedback.

7.             This individual will participate in Distribution Center (DC) meetings to review defects and seek improvement through partnering with customer counterparts.

8.             The Safety and Training Leader will coordinate with DBL’s on conducting training interventions as needed and provide support to any rewarding events like rodeos.

9.             This associate will collaborate with account leadership on driver meetings and provide updates to drivers though posters, newsletters and weekly focus messages as well.

10.          This associate will conduct regularly scheduled Risk Assessments attended by the DBLs, Operations Manager and Safety and Training Manager. Compliance, CER data, CSA data, accident and injury trending, etc. would be examined at driver and account level for the development of meaningful Individual Development Plans and account interventions.
