The Health & Safety Coordinator (Coordinator) is an entry level safety position. Typically the Coordinator reports to the Regional Health & Safety Manager or Director of Health & Safety. Each Asset Area will have at least one Health & Safety Coordinator. The position will provide technical health and safety guidance on a variety of issues throughout the Asset. Travel will be required throughout the Asset Area. Travel between Assets and Regions requiring overnight stay to support incident investigations and audits is less than 10%.

Scope of Responsibilities
– Provide guidance to field personnel on safety policies and procedures
– Provide Safety Training to employees within the Asset Area
– New employee safety orientation
– Life Critical tasks training
– Authorized permit issuer training
– Safe driver training (i.e. smith System)
– Annual safety refresher training
– Other as assigned
– Audit and ensure compliance with life critical permit processes (Hotwork, Confined Space Entry, Safety Systems Bypass, Critical Lift Plans, Lockout-Tagout )
– Audit and ensure inspections of basic safety equipment (Fire Extinguishers, Safety Showers, Eye Wash Stations, Automatic Defibrillator Devices, and PPE) is completed
– Audit and ensure Powered Industrial Vehicle (PIV) (Vehicles, manlifts, forklifts, etc.) inspections are being completed
– Audit and ensure lifting device (Crane, Hoist, Truck lifts, slings, etc.) inspections are being completed
– Audit and ensure fall protection equipment is being used when required
– Lead and participate in Incident Investigations
– Participate in Process Safety Teams (PHAs, MOCs, PSSRs)
– Assist in closure of corrective action items
– Manage construction site safety
– Assist with contractor safety orientations
– Participate in plant/field and asset safety sequential and safety committees
– Coordinate and conduct Industrial Hygiene activities (Asbestos, Benzene, Noise, NORM, etc.)
– Update Emergency Response Plans and coordinate Emergency Response drills
– Provide safety support for turnaround work/construction
– Understand and follow OSHA reporting/posting requirements
– Complete Sara Title III Tier II reporting
– Participate in PSM/Health & Safety Auditing Corporate and Regional
– Interface with local regulatory agencies and emergency responders
– Duties as assigned by the Regional H&S Manager

– Ability to research and understand regulations
– Work independently with little direction
– Excellent time management
– Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Education or Formal Training
– Recent college degree; or previous operations experience with a strong desire to be in Health & Safety
– Proficient with basic computer skills
– 0-5 years of experience

Physical Requirements
– Ability to drive a vehicle to travel to various locations
– Hear and be heard
– Able to ascend to higher elevations using stairs, ladders, walkways and manlifts
– Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
– Ability to sit for long periods of time at a desk (8-hours) typing and writing reports
– Ability to stand for long periods of time (4 hours) conducting training
– Ability to walk long distances through plant locations and along pipeline rights-of way
